Food Review : Saveur Thai @ Kaki Bukit
Sunday, April 20, 2014

Chanced upon a new place to cater to Thai Food cravings!
Usually, for those like me who stays in the North-East... We would go to Nakhon Kitchen to queue.
However, I have found another alternative! It is a bit further off and only accessible by car.

Located at Kaki Bukit Road 4 @ Bartley Biz Centre...

The place is new and clean! Come and try before this place starts to get crowded!

$10 - Tom Yum Seafood Soup

The soup is a tad sweet for me because I  am a spice lover and I have high expectations for tom yum. Usually, I'll go for clear soup but because we were sharing as a family so we opted for this.

$6- Pandan leaves wrapped chicken
We had 2 servings of this because it was really frangrant and soft!

$8- Sambal Kangkong
This stir-fried dish was nicely cooked but there just wasn't enough sambal because it did not taste spicy enough for me. At least the veggie was crunchy enough :)

$8- Thai Fish Cake
A tad too salty for my taste buds but the rest of the family felt it was alright.

Their fried seabass was selling at a promo rate so we gave it a try!
$15 promotional price. Usual price was at $25.

I forgot to take a photo of the basil minced pork but that was really appetizing!! Super spicy and just right for me. You can simply eat that with white rice and it would be more than enough. $8 for that.

Lastly, mango salad at $5.

Spicy and crunchy. James' take on it as I did not try it. I was too full at that point of time.

Total damage was $68.50 for 5 pax. Rice was at $0.50 each. Reasonable and just adequate for all. No extra service charge or GST charges.

I'll give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Thank you for reading!!

So, the "Talk Cock Sing Song" family had our yearly reunion dinner at this Thai restaurant last Saturday and I am writing a short review about it because we did have a good time there!

Extracted from their website :

Founded by a passionate food enthusiast, J, Rochor Thai brings to you the perfect concoction of classic traditional flavours cleverly infused with modern Thai elements.

Previously located at the historical Rochor Centre building, Rochor Thai has now moved to a new location at Joo Chiat. Standing amongst historical conservation buildings, we bring a breath of freshness, yet preserving the nostalgia in the area.

Making all our pastes and sauces from scratch, spoil yourself with marvelous choices of classic Thai dishes such as our Chef’s special Pad Thai Seafood and Green Curry Chicken to the less common ones such as Hoay Lai Pad Prik Pao, Flower Clams flambe and served with our special broth, and Goong Pad Kee Mao, a spicy Thai "drunken"-style prawns.

The exciting menu is specially designed and sincerely crafted by J’s rich culinary experience and deep affinity with Thai cuisine just to pamper your palates. Go on a trip down memory lane with Rochor Thai as you immerse yourself in the songs from the Land of Smiles and get down to a few bottles of SINGHA with your friends and families!

Apologies but I didn't take photos of the food on that day because everyone was starving thanks to those that were late. So, once everyone had reached, we dug in almost immediately.

We took up the CNY set dinner that costs $168 per table and I must say that the food tasted real good but it's just that some of us couldn't take the spiciness. Not me though, I love chilli to death. Haha.

If you are still thinking of where to eat your CNY reunion dinner, stop thinking and call 64403270 and look for Kenny to make your reservations NOW!

To make it up for the lack of photos, here is cute me with the cute + handsome Thaddeaus.

Rochor Thai is located at :

[ REVIEW ] TASTE OF THAILAND
Monday, April 29, 2013

TASTE OF THAILAND @  YISHUN.

Here's another food review and as we all LOVE food, I am sure you will love this recommendation.

Firstly, I must declare that I am a HUGE fan of Thai Food! The top 3 authentic Thai Food in my mind now would be (1) Nakhon Kitchen @ Kovan. (2) ...... a Thai food stall at Orchard Towers which I cannot remember the name already but I remember the way there and that is more important!

Please, if you have any great Thai Food places to recommend in Singapore, please leave a comment below or EMAIL me. Share the love!

I know it's funny that I am starting the post with my own self-shots but I kinda miss seeing me on my updates. I have been regularly updating so much of other photos but not my own.. I know you all also miss me a lot right?

I have reviewed before a Thai-Chinese food stall in another post which was called Hui Wei Chinese-Thai Cuisine.

This place I am reviewing is also a similar food stall located at Yishun!
Address here : 1001 Yishun Industrial Park A
#01-1001 Yishun Industrial Food Centre
Tel: 67589121Fax: 67540053

Located in an industrial park, who would have thought the place will be so fully packed? They do not charge GST or service charge, which is definitely a plus point! We reached there around 7pm and the whole, yes, I mean WHOLE coffeeshop was packed, all of which were eating from "Taste Of Thailand"!  Thank God that Shi Hao and family stayed near there and were already queuing beforehand. We were to order our dishes before we were seated.

Look at the crowd!

Here are the dishes that we had that day and as I was really hungry, I missed out a photo of the Tom Yam soup but we can all imagine what the soup looks like right? Hee.

This is their famous fried fish and I must say that it was really a key dish that day. The skin was fried to the ultimate crispiness and it tasted really good when matched with the sauce.

I give it a 4.8/5!

The reason why I took a close-up photo of the Pineapple Fried Rice was because all of us were so eager to dig into it that by the time I wanted to take a photo, there was only a quarter left! We had like 4 big plates of these! How hungry were we, can you imagine! There were 11 of us and as soon as the rice was out, we scooped it empty, almost immediately.

4/5 for this dish!

Hot-Plate Tofu was a dish that I think many would enjoy because the piping-hot sauce had a tangible sour and spicy taste which was just right for a Thai-Chinese cuisine. We really enjoyed this dish and finished it before it even had a chance to turn cold.

4/5 for this!

We actually ordered "Long Bean" vegetable but apparently, the wrong dish was presented. Being hungry ghosts, we didn't bother to ask for an exchange and ate it after all.  This was the  most "meh" dish that day because it tasted beyond average. Not to our liking, I guess?

2/5 for this!

THIS was the star that day and we had ordered 2 of it! I just don't know of anyone who doesn't like fried squid or also known as "calamari" because it is just so nice! (Unless if you are allergic to seafood of couse!) As long as this dish was served piping hot, I am sure everyone will love it as much as we did.

4.5/5!

The "Lemon Chicken" was a tad too sour for me in my opinion but as I don't really like sour stuffs, it could be tasty for you if you are a person who loves sour food! The chicken was fried to a neat perfection so no complains about that.

3/5!

The "Tom Yam Soup" we had was a 4.9/5 for me as I am not only a sucker for soup, I especially love Tom Yam Soup! The one served here was really nice and really Thai! I dislike those Tom Yam Soup whereby all they do is add some tomato and some spices to conjure the Thai flavor into it, which normally fails and is always too blend. I don't think a portion of the soup was enough for the 11 of us though as we all seemed to enjoy the soup very much!

I love gatherings like this whereby we catch-up and bond over good food but I hate to be the planner because usually, nobody cares about replying me and they usually take advantage of the planner so one of my resolution this year was to not bother so much! As compared to Hui Wei Chinese-Thai cuisine, both was affordable as we spent only about $11 per pax. So overall, it depends on where you stay and where you prefer to go for your meals! Both are highly recommended by food guru, Snow =D

Ending this post with a really nice photo of James and Thaddeaus!

I can only imagine how he will look as a father, real loving! :)

Xoxo, till the next time!

FOOD makes me HAPPY - Part II
Wednesday, August 22, 2012

FINALLY!

I am back to talk about FOOD. Don't blame me that I have nothing else to talk about. My life will seemingly turn very interesting in time to come, just you wait =D

Let's just get straight to the point here.

I patronized "Porn's" in April with Hui Qi and it was a truly enjoyable experience. I went to the one located at : 28 Liang Seah Street  Singapore 189049

Hui Qi and I was crazily happy because Pornsak was there at the cashier! I remembered it was like a day or two after the Star Awards 2012 and he looked pretty forlorn but still he put his sweetest smile when thanking customers for eating at Porn's. Such a humble and handsome entertainer/host he is. I just adore him!

My FAVOURITE, Thai Iced Milk Tea.

Clear Tom Yam Soup is always the sex please!
 Egg omelette!!
Basil Minced Pork, stir-fried. This was the best. Spiciness at it's peak!

Overall, I had a very pleasant experience there because I got to see Pornsak in person! I had actually seen him before during a Channel U event but well, I hope to see him many many times again because he is just that nice. If you are craving for some Thai Food, visit Porn's now and head on to "Ji De Chi" dessert after that. They are located so near together. Eat till you explode.

Below! I went to "KungFu Paradise" located at Century Square. @#10-37 (Next to Qi Ji!)
Their pasta there was pretty good! I had their Laksa Vongole but I forgot what the other one was called already. You can give it a try! For price-wise, they range like Xin Wang HK Cafe.

And MUAHAHAHAHHAHAH, James and my own creation! One fine day, we got bored and went to the supermarket to cook pineapple fried rice, chawamushi and also Lao Ban- inspired Tau Huay!!!

It was such a perfect meal that I am drooling just thinking about it now!

Look at the silkiness of our "Lao Beh" beancurd!!! If you want to try, let me know and we could make them for you! Hahahaha, for real here ok.

Moving to this.

YONG TAU FOO!
These 2 stalls at Chinatown has mad queues everyday for their signature Yong Tau Foo!!! The one in green bowl and the one in orange bowl is from 2 different stalls.

I like the one at the in the orange bowl better but the queue is always extremely crazyyyy I tell you. They don't come with noodles like the one in the green bowl but their soup and ingredients just have this "you will want to eat them again" feeling. Trust me! Head down to Chinatown and make your pick. Try both!

Both stalls can be found at : People’s Park Centre.

I swear you wouldn't miss the stalls cos the queue is there, daily. From what I have googled, Koo Kee Yong Tau Foo has many branches in SG. They even opened a new branch near my place at Tampine St 21 but omg, the one there is not tasty at all. =/

NOW TO BUFFET TOWN!!!

I have been hearing raving reviews about this place so I bought Mum there for a Mother's Day meal. The reservation process was tedious and a rather bad experience though. I made a reservation via their online portal a week before I was heading there for a meal and when I called them a day before, they said there was no reservation under my name. We argued and argued and so many phone calls were made. They told me that their online portal may not have been working on the day I made my reservation but well, that wasn't my problem right? I won in the end and they still slotted me in for dinner that day. Oh come on, I did not bully my way in okay? It was Mother's Day! Where else could I make a reservation?

Find out more about them on their website here : Buffet Town

The international buffet was good though. Haha, I sell my soul to food. Appease me with food when you piss me off ok? It is super easy to pacify me. The best part is their OYSTERS! I cannot get enough of their fresh oysters I tell you. Gotta love it.

HOW CAN YOU RESIST YOU TELL ME?
 So juicy and succulent!
And Oh, they have chilli crab too! But not all of you will eat them because you do not want to dirty your hands!

I also patronized "EWF" at Holland Village for Eugene's birthday! I was supposed to reserve a slot at Timbre but they are always so packed so too bad, they do not get my business :D Haha, kidding. This place was good! Their service is super super super good I tell you. We were a big bunch, around 12-14 of us were there and we were pretty noisy plus indecisive when ordering but the staff serving us was super patient! Salute him!!

Their address is : 40 Lorong Mambong  Singapore 277695

You start by ordering your main course with the side dish that you want. And, they have many interesting flavours for their fries as well. I loved what I had and I will definitely return there!

BEST PART was their Nutella cake. Some love it, some don't, but it was really delicious to me!! I ordered a whole cake of this for Eugene's birthday cake as they only had that cake available at that time. Eugene didn't really liked chocolate but bopian leh. Hahah. I love this cake so when you head down there, you should totally try it!

Okay, we have come to the end of Part II. It's getting lengthy now so I will have to leave the rest of the photos for another post maybe in a day or two's time!

Come back for more ok!

Tweet me if you have any queries about the food I blogged about :)
